I have a 1994 Pontiac Grand Am 4 cylinder with 3 speed automatic transmission. Looking for any info on problems with this car. Mine shifted down to first gear while I was driving 60 mph and is stuck there now. Does anyone know what caused this? And what can be done to fix it?

There's an internal problem and the only repair is a complete rebuild, or replacement from a junkyard

Ruh roh...
You have a transmission problem. It shifted into 'limp home' mode so you wouldn't be stranded, but until a mechanic checks it out it will stay there.
Get (slowly)to a transmission shop or have it towed there.
