The oil pressure warning light came on in my daughter's 98 Sunfire when she was about 3 blocks from home. By the time she got in the driveway, there was a distinct rod knocking sound. So the engine ran on low or no pressure for about 3 minutes at very low speed. I've never had the lower end of a 2.4 apart before, so a couple of questions.
1. What are the chances I have damage on the crank journals? It's not a loud knock, but it is there.
2. How big a pain is it to drop the pan and balance shafts to get to the rod lower ends?
3. Any other advice?
Thanks much,.
