2.4 Engine replacement in 2000 sunfire

I have a 2000 Sunfire GT. At 124K miles my 2.4L engine decided to blow. :mad: I am trying to locate a replacement engine. Will a 2.4L engine out of a 1996 sunfire fit in the 2000? Is there a place I can find a list of compatible engines, or can someone provide me with such a list.

have you tried a junk yard, they typically have interchange books
 
Thanks I did that and the 96 won't work. Found a 2000 with 72000 miles for $750, seems pretty fair.
