Hi all, I am in a jam with my 00 sunfire 2.2, AUTO ... It began running poorly and would rev to the moon while driving up hills but would not increase power or acceleration, I would have to let off the gas for it to shift up a gear to drop rpm's for it to have more power and to increase speed (very slowly, and horrible when compared to it running correctly). The check engine light was on and threw cat. converter bank 1 code, so i CHANGED IT WITHOUT any improvement in performance. Got the check engine light tested again, throwing the same code, with additional codes after (same as before, I believe they were "b codes" or something of that nature). This was about a month ago so I do not remember perfectly, but autozone said it was a shift module or something, basically saying it was the ECU. Now, my brother is driving it and he said it wont rev past 1500 rpms now, even in neutral and wont go faster than about 10 mph.

Can you guys PLEASE help me out, my brother has it and needs it to run to get home for the holidays

Go have the codes pulled again and report back with them, it will make offering suggestions much easier.

Ok thanks, he's getting it towed to his house now bc it will hardly go anywhere. Will have to borrow the device to pull codes and I'll check back in with you guys. Thanks

It sounds like a plugged catalytic converter.

I pulled the code and got P0300. Any help on where to begin by the information I initially posted?

THANKS

Random misfire, check voltage, if voltage ok, disconnect the incoming exhaust from the cat and see of it's full of carbon.

with the car idling, check running voltage at the battery or off the alternator.
