Hi I got a idle issue with my 2000 grand am gt. The car after driving it seems to idle hi when I put it back in park. Around 1200-1400 rpm. But when I come to a stop at a light in drive it idles fine. Around 700-800 rpm. Car has a new iac on it. New plugs and wires and filter. Tb has been cleaned. I am stumped. Any help will be very grateful thanks

What's the temp outside? 700-800 rpm idle in park or while in gear-if in park that is fine but if it is in drive, that still seems high to me. What about any vacuum hoses or MAF? I have 2 of these engines (2000 Grand Am GT 3.4 and 2005 Impala 3.4) they idle 700 in park and 580-620ish if in drive. I did get a computer tune from overkill on my impala and it now idles higher because it had a new PCM.

Back on topic: check hoses make sure that everything is working well.

Its in the mid 50's here in Michigan right now. I am gonna do a vacuum test today. Is there anyway to test the maf? I am also gonna clean the tb and maf also again. Does anyone think it could be the tps?

Oh yeah the car had the heads milled and had new head gaskets and updated intake gaskets installed back in August of last yr

Why was the IAC replaced and were any carbon deposits cleaned out while it was removed?

I replaced it cause I heard that will cause idle issues. So I started there since it was easy to get too. And yes I cleaned all the carbon deposite out of the hole it went in on the throttle body
