2000 Grand am head bolts

If I replace the head gasket, do really have to replace the head bolts? The manual says nothing but the parts guy says it's a must. I just replaced the gasket without replacing the bolts, a month ago, nowI smell exhaust and feel pressurized air when I take off the oil cap. Can anyone guild me?

For a street driven vehicle, I would say no. I assume you used a torque wrench and a manual to tighten them in the correct sequence.

Yes I used a torch wrench and the proper specs. I'm guessing that my head gasket is bad. Any thoughts?

You are feeling blowby across the rings, not related to a head gasket.
