I am replacing the tires on my Grand Am and have read that some noise I am experiencing may come from the tires that are on it. Does anyone with a Grand Am have any suggestions on the brand that is good? Also, I want to replace the rims...I am not the car expert so this may be a silly question (please forgive me if it is!) but, are the rims and wheels the same thing? Any suggestions on those??
Thank you much!!

Grand Am Tires/Rims..

Well I would think that rims are just the metal that the tire actually goes around. Tires are of course tires. And wheels are both rims and tires together. As far as replacing them goes, the generic ones (simple black discs with holes along the outer edge and frequently seen with bolt on wheel covers) are the cheapest. And for most driving they'll do just fine. I've got a 2001 GT with factory installed rims, and while they're beautiful to look at they're also very pricey. If I damage and have to replace one, they're $400.00 a pop.

So really it boils down to personal preference, there's plenty of after market designs out there, and how much you're willing to spend.
