2000 Grand Am V6 MAJOR OIL LEAK

My 2000 Grand Am V6 is leaking HEAVILY from the front of the engine. When under the car and the engine running there's a stream of oil coming from around the starter area. I can't see the exact source. Does this sound like a main seal issue? If so how much does a mechanic generally charge to do this kind of work?

It sounds to me like you have a loose oil filter. Was the oil and filter changed recently? Main seals dont start off as major oil leaks, they are drips.

Turned out to be the oil pressure sending unit. For some reason it was loosened almost completely. I barely had to put any torque on it to take it out. Replaced it with a new one with some red locktite and 120 ft/lbs of torque.

Wonder how it managed to come so loose?
