My friend has a montana that is going through wheel bearings like crazy. The bearings went bad about 6 months ago. He replaced them with cheaper parts at that time, and they only lasted 2 months. So at that time he had a shop install SKF bearings instead of cheapies, and did an alignment as well. Today he asked me to test drive it for a hum. I drove it and was really reluctant to make a call on bearings again(knowing that they've been done twice in 6 months). However, when we jacked it up, we found excessive play in both front bearings again. There has to be something causing this to happen. It has about 96000 miles and has had a new stabilizer bar, bushings, links, tie-rods, balljoints, and front brakes in the last year or so.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Are you using the stock size tires and wheels?

There are no recalls or service bulletins on axle bearings for the 2000 Montana. Take it back to the shop that did the work and find out what kind of warrantee skf gives on their products

Skf has a one year or 20,000 km warranty
