Are you talking about the blower motor for the heater or the cooling fan for the engine?
If it is the heater fan this will not cause the car to run hot. You would have 2 different problems.
If it is the cooling fan this will make the car over heat.
Either way take a test light ( you can buy one at wal mart for $6.00) and check to see if it has juice and a ground. to check the ground connect the clip on the test light to a power source and touch the ground wire. If it has juice and a good ground the motor is bad if not most likely be a short in the wires this can take some time to track down. If the blower motor has both juice and a good ground then the heater control is probably bad.
