2000 pontiac grand am, V6 4 door--Sealed Transmissions and Drivers side window.?

I recently went to have oil changed and ya know how all places want to xpress to you that other work needs to be done, however, they stated that the transmission fluids need to be drained and cleaned, well, if my trans is sealed, how do you know when to have work done on it or not??? I bought the car over one and half years ago, I really didn't know what needed to be done or not. Also, just recently my drivers side window wont roll down, all the others will go down but not the drivers side. Someone told me that it could be the switch or motor, which is the best way to see which part could it be? Looking 4 inexpensive way....anyway, thanks to all who answered....Sometimes it sucks when u are single and female, this is when you need a good man around.....Thanks again.....

Sorry I have no answer on the tranny, but you can get a switch for the window for not much, the switch just pops right out and you can try the new one. If it still doesn't work then it is not the switch that is the issue.

The trans should be flushed by a service center every 70-80 K any properly equiped service shop should be able to do it, they also have ways of checking the fluid but may encur a small fee as it does require raising the car on a hoist ..
the motor and switch can also be checked by a service shop to determine what is bad ..
