2000 Pontiac Sunfire Gas Light comes on...1/2 a Tank?!?!?

I already had the fuel filter replaced exactly a week ago.I was on the way home and it just died on me.The Gas light comes on, even though its showing 1/2 tank.I waited about 5 mintues and it started back up,broke down 1/2 mile later..Waited agian and then finally mad it home.Does anyone know what the problem could be?

There is a thing called a "sending unit" inside the fuel tank. Replace it.

While you are in there replace the fuel pump also save some trouble later ...
