I'm looking to replace the stereo in my '00 Sunfire. What would you recommend for a decent stereo to go into that car? (Anything around 100 bucks would be the best). Thanks for your opinion

Why do you think a $100 aftermarket stereo would be better than the factory Delco unit?

It's not a Delco unit...it's a Monsoon piece of crap stereo with zero reception and half the lights don't work, which is not a battery or wiring problem. And as for 100 bucks? I'm kinda on a budget so i can't spend a lot of money on it

I got a Pioneer for mine, was around 40 bucks. Got it off of craigslist.

My best suggestion would be to look at a pioneer deck simply because they last a long time and they seem to have better anti skip protection, and they can read a disk immediately after starting car in cold climate.

If you want a reasonably priced model try finding a Tunner II or Tunner III model. They are base model units are are common to find in salvage yards. This is actually your best source for them if you have a reputable yard that actually tests them. You probably will pay between 25-40 dollars.

Otherwise look at walmart or on amazon. The Dual brand decks are decent and pretty cheap. Sony decks tend to only last a few years unless you get one of the older models. They are cheap as well. I had a VR3 model from walmart that for the price was an excellent model. The issue with them is they have no customer service. So if it goes bad out of the initial store waranty, it is basically garbage.

I personally deal alot with the pioneer decks simply because they are cheap, well made, and last. I have also bought alot of BOSS audio. They are cheap and quite decent as well. If you do buy BOSS, buy factory direct. DONT buy walmart. There IS a difference, between where you get them. The factory direct stuff is made better. The Walmart stuff is actually lower wattage that it says it is, and more poorly made.

A decent entry level deck, from BOSS Audio would be the model 644UA

Hope that helps.

I will second the pioneer recomendation. The Tunner II and Tunner III models are base models and are pretty decent for CD decks. They have good anti skip protection and can play fogged / dirty disks pretty well. These decks are also good cold climate decks as they can imediately read CDs rather than waiting for the car to thaw and everything to warm up. These normally run between 20-40 dollars, and the best source is actually junk yards / salvage yards as most do not have a clue what they are worth, and sell excelent decks for a flat fee rather than actual value.

If you want a decent deck that is not a base model, a BOSS Audio model 644UA would provide you more for a little more money ($60-80). A word of caution on BOSS Audio... Buy all stuff direct from factory. They tend to sell lower quality / lower than rated wattage stuff to walmart and other "discount retailers". You should be pretty happy with this model deck though. I have used alot of BOSS Audio, and enjoy thier products as a decent budget piece of equipment.

Google shopping brah its.cheap

Hi, just a heads up. The door chimes, headlights on warning sound (when the car is turned off), and the dome lights are all controlled by the oem head unit. One you remove the oem head unit, you will lose these features, unless you buy an expensive module (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Scosche...85&skuId=9084466&st=pontiac sunfire&cp=1&lp=4).

I've changed my head unit to an after market deck, and didn't want to pay $100 on this addition thing so I ended up losing the above mentioned features.

Just thought I'd let you know
