2001 Firebird low Oil Pressure Knocking Sound

Had a sudden drop in oil pressure and now getting a knocking from the engine. Shut it down immediately. Suspecting a blown oil pump and maybe worse. Does the oil pump knock when it fails or is this a rod or piston???

the oil pump does not knock, worn bearings can cause a knock and a drop in oil pressure. Definitely recommend pulling the pan down and checking things.

Turned out that engine is blown. Broken wrist pin and a likely spun main bearing. Should I rebuild or replace? 2001 firebid 3800 3.8 L V6.
