So I've started having an issue with my drivers side sliding door. Well two issues but the second is manageable, the first not so much.

First issue: on occasion the outside handle will lose the "electric resistance" and basically "flop" in and out (I hope that makes sense) basically like the handle on a non-electric door or a car that is locked... Anyways when this resistance goes away, so does the doors ability to latch shut. Which is the problem. We can disable that side from the control console but the handle is still screwed up and if we try to close the door it just bounces back open. After a while it will star working and latch shut again, but in the meantime since the door is basically stuck open, it's unusable. We've stopped using the door and it doesn't magically open, so it seems to be a closing issue.
Anyways I've looked for videos on replacing the handle but don't seem to find any for the year... Just the front doors.

Second issue: occasionally the handle will get really stuck and have lots of resistance and won't open or unlock.

I'm would take off the inside trim and take a look at the door handle inner workings it just may need cleaned and lubricated . There has to be contacts on the handle and possible an solenoid .
Check gm parts direct for parts .
Also if Mel chimes in he may be able to direct you to a detailed parts diagram for the door, there is a gm dealer that shows all the diagrams. Good luck keep us posted.

Thanks for the response so far. I'll wait to see if I can get a diagram. Though I'm not opposed to buying a Hanes manual either. I would like to save the money and do it myself if at all possible. I'm also not opposed to replacing the handle with a manual handle/lock if it's an electrical issue... If that's even possible.

Hi !
Remove the sliding door garnish molding.
Also remove the clip holding the handle on with a pic . Remove the sliding door inside handle.

Use the J 38778 to remove the sliding door trim panel fasteners.

To remove the door lock, gently Okrut 4 bolts (# 3)

If you experience problems - please write. We will help.
