Hello, I am new here. And I am having problems with my '01 Pontiac. The cooling fans will not turn on at all. I have replaced all fuses and relays that will work for the fans. Changed out the Coolant Tempature Sensor. I took it to a Mechanic and he couldn't find the problem either. But when I unhook the Coolant Temp Sensor the fans run on high. They will not even kick on with A/C on either. I just need some advice of what to do next for them to turn on.

I had a similar problem but mine worked when the A/C came on. Look for my post, and there is a link to a partial diagnost check list. Are you sure you got all the relays? I think there are 3 and 3-4 fuses too. We will know more after the jumper test, 30 and 86 if I remember correctly.

"2001 3.4L V6 SE Cooling Fans Not Working" is the title of my thread.

Were you able to do a jumper check, that is bypass the relay and operate the fans manually? Are the fans, when they do work, chirping or maiking any grinding noise? Do they spin pretty freely inbetween poles (the magnetic poles)?

I haven't had a chance to check. Or do a test. I will have to try tomorrow. They do chirp a little when on though.

When the fans start to go out the motors draw more and more current to force the fans to turn. This causes burnt wires, relays and fuses. New fans first then check the electricals again. Talk to an automotive electronics guy.
