2001 Pontiac Grand am wont start whats wrong??

I have a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am 3.4 liter v6 and i go to start it and it wants to start but it dont. I can hear the fuel pump start up but it didnt before for whatever reason but it does now. i poured a little gasoline in the throttle body and it started for a few seconds and then quit. the car is not out of gas i put some gas in just it case the fuel gauge was wrong but its not. i was just wondering if anyone has a clue what is wrong or if u know of a grand am having this same problem. thank you

sounds like it may be the fuel pump

Could be the security system, try turning the key to on for about 10 min. or the security light starts blinking then try starting it
Happens to mine about once a month.
