2001 pontiac grand prix. the engine fan keeps working when car is running?

its a 2 fan system,this is the larger fan, it runs all the time when engine is running,not when shut off ,can is not low on fluid, and its pumping out alot of heat in heater . is there a relay that could do this? (temp. last nite while driving was 5 degrees)

Is it running no matter where the setting is on the heater control (vent, defrost, floor,?)
if it's only running when in some of the positions it could be a normal condition
(whenever the A/C compresser is cycled it will kick the fan on) even in heat mode ..
otherwise relays do control the fans You should be able to find it in the underhood area
or get a manual for your car ..
