issue.? My 2001 Pontiac Sunfire Coupe's speedometer is having some issues. When I turn the car off, it's stuck at around 35mph. When I turn the car on, it fluctuates a little and wiggles around then goes to about 20 mph. From this point on it's always 20mph "ahead". However, sometimes it jumps to 30mph "ahead". The only way to know is when your at a stop and you can tell where it is. So it still moves, but it's just ahead. What would cause this? There is an aftermarket remote starter on the car.

The speedometers are controled by the Vehicle speed sensor "VSS" through the computor if you are experiancing a stuck needle it probably needs a new cluster as the small electric motor that drives the needle is failing (they are NOT replacable) so you have to replace the entire cluster assembly..
you can either use a salvage yard one or order a remanufactured one from a dealer..
but if you use a salvage one the mileage will be different from the one you have now as it is stored in a memory circuit in the cluster...
