I knew I had to get it programmed. . And no I don't have xm atenna but I took it from the car that had the radio

The links you provided for the radio only shows the general search not the exact radio you have.

To avoid confusion pick the radio you have by using the link you provided the select go to site once there copy the link and paste that here but make sure the model number for the radio you provide is the radio you have or just type the model number from the radio on this post. Adding pictures is easy just save the picture to your computer. When your typing a reply go to advanced and select the small picture that looks like a paper clip it will open a window just select the location of the photo and click upload.

have you removed the old radio and checked that the wire harness in the car connects to whatever wire harness you pulled from the donor car?

Yes they have the same wiring except the xm radio cables and the atenna but I got that from the other car . I just don't know if the radio requires a amp or not ???

no it has a internal amplifier, check the back of the radio you will see a heat sink.

there may be, most likely is more than one positive wire going to that radio, you need a wiring diagram for the car you removed the radio from.
and you nee done for your car.
We do not have Manuals for peoples cars, it is expected when you need help that you have a manual and wiring diagrams for the car your working on.

Your complicating matters for yourself by having a different radio that your trying to stuff in your car.

This can be done but it is up to your to follow though with your dream and buy the necessary tools to do the job.

Not one person here has the same car as you and has chosen to put the exact radio you purchased in it.

This is your baby your project your expense.

This would be different if your installing a aftermarket radio in your car, nearly anyone could help you with that if they had the manual for your car with the wiring diagram.

positive and negative

When I connected the positive and negative it only showed the time nothing else worked

What do you mean the positive and negative, the battery cables? How do you know the radio actually works? If it is the optional Monsoon or whatever name they used there was a separate unit mounted in the trunk.

the OP showed a link to the very same radio I have in my 20 HHR it is a standard off the shelf nothing fancy radio for GM cars.

I think he said he connected power to one wire labeled positive in some diagram and one for the ground.
he has yet to get a wiring diagram connecting all the wires needed to operate the radio.
The wire he connected I think is the keep alive circuit that powers up the clock and radio presets.

he has more connections to make. before the radio will power up and possibly require a code to work or programming.

So what you are saying is I need to go back to the car I got the radio from and get the user manual? ?

NO I am saying you need a factory service manual with wiring diagrams for both cars your car, and the car you pulled the radio from.
