Hey guys, what should I check to get the rear defrost to work, the light comes on, but it wont heat up. Not much in the service manuals on this.

Thanks.
Mark

get a volt meter or test light and check the hot wire on the back glass for power.

Thanks I will do that this weekend and report back, if there is no power, then what is next? The fuse is good, is there a relay anywhere? or does the entire control panel have to be replaced?

NAPA lists a relay, check your book for location.

Nothing I have says where the relay is located on the car. I have an All Data Diy account, and it does not show it.

there was the same problem with my rear defrost, this is what i did to fix it. there is a green connector underneath and to the left of the driver kick back panel. i took a picture of it, as you can see the wire looks like it was ripped out of the connector so what i did was i stripped the insulation of the two wires and i connected them directly using another wire and now my rear defrost works. it was a purple wire. sorry i couldn't put a higher resolution picture but it wont let me upload it. so the connector is basically by the hood latch opener. hope this helps

Thanks for the Picture, I will take a look and see if that is my problem.

Thanks guys that was exactly my problem. The harness on the bottom where the wire was connected was completly burnt out, so I just cliped the Purple wire and stripped it, and clipped the heavy black wire on the other side, and stripped it and connected them togehter.

That fixed the problem.
