2001 surging/cutting up randomly

My grand am randomly starts surging/cutting up and the rpms just fall. My cruise only works sometimes but I think it's related to my car surging. It happens more often up hills and at around 65-70mph. I just got the fuel filter changed and it helped some, but did not fix problem.

Do you have a check engine light on? Did you check the air filter? How many miles since the plugs were changed? Did you check the fuel pressure?

No check engine light on. Not sure when the plugs were last changed I got the car last September and it hasn't been done since then. Haven't checked air filter or fuel pressure.
