Hello world,

I have finally broken down in my attempts to getting the 7x Crankshaft Position Sensor out of my 3.4 liter 2002 Pontiac Grand Am. Here's the skinny...

- I've gotten the wiring harness of the sensor off
- Ive gotten the sensor unbolted
- I've gotten the sensor half way out of the hole

Now it is just stuck, I cannot pull it out any further, I cannot push it in, I cannot rotate it. I am stumped. I've tried everything from tapping at it on all sides with an extremely long flat head, I've tied it from the top and pulled on it, I've attempted heating it up but its too far away to reach. I do not know what else to do. Does anyone else have some home tricks they used to get the little bugger out.

(BTW: I am talking about the 7x sensor that is on the back side of the block if you are looking at the front of the vehicle. I am not conserned with any information regarding the 24x crank sensor that is behind the harmonic balancer.)

Any and all information would be greatly appreciated,

Welcome,

So I take it the car is hard to start/doesn't start and you are sure that it is the sensor now?

Anyway, that's horrible to hear. I know the position is a PITA. There is nothing that can hold the sensor in there (just an O ring) I took mine off when I had the oil pan off (much easier but probably a bit more than you would like to do).

Try getting it fron the passenger side wheel well. It's hard to see but it is behind that metal braket. Maybe use some pliers or small vice grips.

Best of luck, let us know how it goes
