Hello all I'm new here, i joined so as to try and see if you all had some ideas on how to fix my car.

ok so heres the problem, when idling the car will start to run hot, it never has done this before so me and a buddy of mine who knows a bit about cars said it might be the thermostat, replaced it, did nothing. About a year ago i had flushed the radiator, I was getting some nasty clumps of i don't know what. I think there might be some more build up somewhere in the radiator. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Its quite possible that you have a build up of "stuff" in the system and need to flush it again or it may be something more like a head gasket or if it is a V6 possibly an intake manifold gasket seal leaking .. all will cause serious overheating if left too long may want to have a service tech take a look at it for a better idea ..

Welcome to the site!

Does the electric radiator fan kick on when it gets hot?

Not sure how the newer vehicles are set up - mine is supposed to kick on whenever the coolant temp reaches 223degF, or anytime the A/C compressor is on and vehicle speed is below 70mph - according to the service manual.

Agree with Goatman that another flush is a good idea, given the results of the previous flush.

the fans kick on when they are supposed to and i will get the gaskets looked at and will DEFFINETLY flush and thanks for the help

Car is Kind of fixed, the intake manifold gasket was messed up and is now fixed but when in traffic it still gets hot real quick, it never used to do that.

Any ideas?

Check and make sure the fan/s are coming on at around 220* an easy way to find out if they are working is to turn the A/C to the On position the fan should come on if it does not I would suggest checking the sensor for coolant that controls tha switch for the fan and the relay that controls the fan also ..
