Does the compressor on my 2002 pontiac sunfire have a electrical connection? i am trying to fix the system. i bought a refridgrent can to refil the system, when i put the blue connector on the pressure jumped up to 120 plus PSI. the compressor does not turn but the fan will turn on. i drained the pressure and the fan turns off, fill it up and the fan turns on. did this several times to make sure. did i damage the system somehow? what could cause the low side to have such high pressure. ? thanks for your time. Autozone.com did not have a pic of the connection, but said some do

There should be an electrical connector to engage the compressor clutch. Don't know that 120psi is out of the norm if it were a moderately warm day - the system has equalized, so the pressures on the high and low sides should be equal. There is a low-pressure cutout at around 20-25 psi that will disable the compressor to prevent damage and to prevent freezing the evaporator. Some vehicles have a high-pressure cutout - so there's at least two reasons the compressor is not working.

You should be able to hear the clutch pull in when the A/C is selected via the climate control panel.

If you're not sure of what you're doing - highly recommend getting professional work done. The high pressures and extreme temperatures associated with the system can cause serious equipment and personal damages - more than enough to offset the savings of doing it yourself.
