2002 Sunfire automatic transmission

Have a 2002 Sunfire 2.2 that needs a new transmission. It's an automatic. At first it began slipping gears and now when I put into any gear all it does is rev the engine. No movement at all. Is there another make/model of car transmission that is compatible with it I could get from a wrecking yard? Would it be cheaper to rebuild the one that's in it? I have no mechanical skills and could really use any advice please.

The wrecking yard might have an Interchange guide and the Chevrolet Cavalier is the same and possibly other GM vehicles.
You will have to check with a local transmission shop to determine what is less costly.
