I finally figured out that my transmission acting funny and my speedometer jumping were connected. Its been acting up for a while now. Most days everything would be fine then all the sudden the transmission would not work right for a while but usally would only be for a few miles and everything would be fine again. It got to the point where i could not drive the car anymore without wreaking the transmission. I put a new transmission speed sensor in. Drove the car out of garage every thing working fine. I thought i had the problem fixed with a 20 dollar part and little time. It drove fine for about four hundred miles with no problem. Then it was a wet slushy day and it start acting up again and it is back to where i cant drive it. I have visually look at the connector and the wire all the way up to top of motor looking for any breaks in the wire and found nothing wrong. Now im stuck and have no more ideals to try. Do i need to keep fallowing the wires more? Is it possible that i got bad sensor or a way to check it? Thanks for any advise

do you have a check engine light on?
have you checked the connector for an internally broken wire using a ohm meter?

Yes I have a check engine light on it has been for aleast 100k. Its just an o2 sensor. I just pay no attention to it any more but thats a good idea to see if there is a new code. Not sure how to check with muti meter. i pulled the plug out from back of connector and everthing looked good. I did put the muti meter on the end of the connector to check for continuity I got a reading of .05 on the 2000k setting. Should it have zeroed out or is that where it should be.

as you stated if you ignore the light and get additional codes you can run into bigger issues.
I can not find specs for resistance on the harness. Only thing I found was with the vehicle properly supported on jack stands you should get an increase in voltage in the harness as speed increases.

I plugged everything back in just to see what would happen. Everything was good for about two weeks and now the speedo and tranny acting up again. I was sure it would since the only thing new i did was unplug and plug things back in. I did check for codes on my obdlink sx and the only codes where o2 sensor and a misfire on number one. The 02 censor has been that way for 75k. I still get good fuel mileage (30mpg +/- 3) so i'm not worried about that. I'm stuck I have no other ideals on what to do. The car has 230k on it. It's not worth putting alot of monery into it but it still runs good. I'm sure it's and easy fix if I could figure out what i need to fix.

it sounds like you have a bad connection in one of the harnesses you disconnected and reconnected. Try looking at every wire as it goes into the connector for corrosion or signs of a break.

Thanks for the advice. That is the reason why I unplugged everything. I did not see anything wrong. I'm about to the point of bring it to a dealer and see if there expensive scan tool and find something. I hate to do it.
