I have a 2002 WS6 Trans Am that I bought brand new. I've had trouble with my lights before, but the car was under warranty. I dont have the money to get this problem fixed and I know nothing about cars. BUT- I would like to try to fix it myself.

The main problem I'm having right now is I have NO turn signals. Both turn signals went out within a week of eachother. I put new bulbs in and they worked fine for about a week. Then they just completely stopped working. The sockets that hold the bulbs looked really dirty but I put the bulbs in anyway. (Could this be it???)

I also have a fog light out and as I was trying to take the old light out- it lit up! I moved it around a little and it kept going on and off. I think there might be a short with the fog light so I just left it alone.

THEN- Last night my driverside lowbeam burned out. (I just changed it a month ago). I pulled over and checked out the light and the socket where the light plugs in to was sparking. The socket looks really fried and dirty.

I have NO idea what's wrong, how to fix this, or even if it is simple enough for me to try to fix it. Could this be an electrical problem? Is there a short? Are all of the lights somehow connected and there is one bad wire causing all the trouble? Is anyone else having these troubles? Help!!!

definetly a electrical problem. try finding cut or any wire that is exposed and replace it or solder it. follow all wires that are linked to the problem areas and look for points were the wire could be smashed. clean all the connections. that might help. on the turn signals it might not be the bulbs but a loose connection for a ground that controls those lights.

some suggestions

a lot of pontiacs have the light problems be it fog lights head lights or signal lights ... its an easy fix but you have to find the root of the problem ... a lot times its simply a bad connection ... besides checking for frayed or damaged wiring the problem usually amounts to rusted or damaged (melted sometimes) sockets (where the bulb plugs into) ... for some reason pontiacs and moisture dont go together well ... youll find with the fog lights that sometimes even just banging on the outside of the lens will get it to light up ... its a bad connection ... so check the connection and if you have to an easy fix is using some electrical tape around the socket connection with the bulb to stabilize the entire unit ... one more thing ... make sure you use the right halogen bulb for the vehicle because if you use a wrong one (ex. a hotter bulb itll melt the crap out of the whole thing) ... you can buy an aftermarket socket to replace yours if theyre bad (look for rust or corrosion on the connection) ... i hope this helps ... i own a sunfire and have faced similar problems ... its frustrating to be sure but if you spend some time on it finding the cause of the problem youll be fine ... just remember pontiacs and moisture dont go together well ... theyre basically a car designed for a warm dry climate ... good luck bud
