2003 Grand Am Fuel Pump Question

I recently was sitting at a light when my car stalled and wouldn't start. We towed it to my house where my father and I first checked voltage and swapped relays to the fuel pump. After that the fuel pump was still not sounding so then we replaced the fuel filter... still not turning over. So then I read online about taking a "Hammer" and tapping the fuel tank and then what do you know the fuel pump turned over and there was a hum. The car was on for about 20 minutes and I moved it and then it died out on me.

I have to change the fuel pump. Ok so now that I know how to do this by dropping the tank and stuff, what kind of fuel pump is it? In the tank? what is the cheapest solution for me to do this myself. I do not want to goto a garage to have them laborize it.

What is the cost of a fuel pump? What are the fuel pump repair kits?

it's in the tank, you have to drop the tank, ask a local auto parts store for a price, it might be a couple of hundred
