Hi im new and im probably going to ask some noobie questions, so I have a 2003 grand am with a 5 speed transmission running a 2.2 ecotec. I am looking into putting a new motor into it, some thing bigger. The issue is ive done tons of research and still cant seem to find any info on a motor thatll match my wiring as well as my transmission. So my question is what would be the simplest swap for me that will make the most impact? Pics of my baby will be posted if you guys want to see her, for now air intake aftermarket stage 2 clutch kit and custom exhaust, but thats about it in the area of performance.

Thanks guys!

Sincerely, devan

Why not redue the current engine, bring it up to Cobalt SS standards or higher?

What does that all entail as far as engine parts go? (sorry new to all this)

So doing a little more research and discussing with some people I know that work on engines, I was pointed toward a 3300 v6 supercharged for my grand am. My question is, what would be more beneficial power wise? Maybe I just overlook the abilities of the 2.2 ecotec, but from what I can see, it's pretty weak :/

So I seen some information on taking a 2.4l ecotec LE5 intake manifold and it'll match up with a 2.2l ecotec, I tried to look at your .pdf for the parts area, but I wasn't exactly following.. Any input from other members on their motor modifications to increase power/torque? I've already considered the Venom soft-flash kit as well..

Nothing beats cubic inches unless you get into turbos and superchargers, so the engine swap would be your best bet.

Any ideas which engine would bolt up to the getrag 5speed on my grand am? I was told a bu 3400 but would I need to find a manual bu 3400 in order for the engine to bolt up to my getrag?
