I changed the shifter cable on my 2003 sunfire automatic transmission now the car turns over but does not start The battery is new and you can hear the fuel pump prime. Car started fine 2 hours before the shifter cable was changed.
only things disconnected were power window switches and a accessory outlet to remove the center console. Have checked other connectors inside and under hood all seem good checked the fuses but will again tomorrow just to make sure just a weird problem to happen when the cable was changed.
Did you unplug the radio? That may trigger the anti-theft system and cause the ecu to disable the engine. You might have to relearn the theft-lock system to restart.
no radio wasnt touched and the car will turn over in park or neutral just will not start. The theft light only comes on when you try to start it then goes right away.
if you have an old spark plug remove the plug boot from one of the cylinders and attach it to the old plug. Make sure the old plug is grounded to metal on the engine and have someone turn the key while you see if a spark jumps the gap. If you dont have an old plug remove a plug from the engine.
