2004 Pontiac Sunfire Dashboard Temp and Rpm Help?

For the past 2 months on my dashboard my RPM and TEMP reader (the little orange lever) are stuck or off the chart. The car is running fine and I'm assuming it may be a fried wire or something? I checked the fuse and that is fine...Any suggestions besides going to a mechanic....??

GM has noted the dasboard gauge problems with the Sunfire. There are a lot of them. The best thing you can do is replace the gauges. The problem isn't electrical more than it is physical. I have a 2004 Pontiac Sunfire that actually runs awesome. However, the biggest complaint about that car is the fact that the dashboard gauges start to stick and become inoperable if overheated. The only remedy I've found to at least slow it down is to remove the plastic covering so I can regulate the temperature from the outside.
