I have a 2004 Sunfire. It broke down about 2 weeks ago on the side of the highway. Upon towing it home, I discovered the root of the problem was a broken cv joint. I purchased a new cv axle, output shaft seal and went to replace it. Upon trying to get the half-shaft off the output shaft, the output shaft came right out of the transmission.
Needless to say I bought a new output shaft as well. Upon sliding in the new output shaft (with 2 new circlips) and replacing the shaft clad, output shaft seal, and cv axle, I finally had it all back together.
It didn't leak anymore and ran fine... that is until you get it up to about 3500 RPM's and then it begins to leak again (same spot)
I am looking for help from anybody that has replaced a half-shaft on this model transmission before. It is a 4T40 so I am assuming 99-05 Auto Sunfire's and Caveliars but I could be wrong.
Any help would be appreciated... pictures can be provided...
