Hello, new to this forum. 2005 Base model, just upgraded the headlights to HID. Anyone know where to purchase a conversion kit so that the low beams stay on when the Hi-beams are turned on?

you vehicle has a 2 filament bulb correct? Before you made the conversion did both filaments light up on high beam? If not I would assume that the bulb even if HID is not designed to handle the heat from both filaments being on at the same time.

Thanks. That is a good point. I will reinstall the orginial low beam and see if it stays on with the hi beam. I don't like the 2-3 second warm up time on the hi beams when they come up. That is why I was asking about the lows. I'll let you know!

did this HID kit include any kind of additional electronics, a ballast, relay, etc. ?

I bought my lights from KENSUN. Contacted them yesterday. They have a hi beam relay kit that is supposed to bring the lights up to full brightness quicker, by maintaining voltage on the ballast and switching the output lead with the relay. All well and good, but I want the low beams to stay on when the high beams come on. Not sure if the above mentioned post will accomplish this and more importantly if it will integrate with the KENSUN product.

I am not suggesting you use the lights you have with another companies relay kit.

I am also not recommending both the high beam and low beam bulbs or elements being powered up at the same time.

As melsg5 mentioned the added heat from both bulbs or elements working at the same time could cause the plastic headlamp housing to melt or catch fire.

this would be a different situation if the OEM setup allows both elements or bulbs to come on at the same time.

I do not know enough about your vehicle to know if your vehicle has one bulb or two per housing. and I do not know if both bulbs or elements come on with the high beams.

I suggest if you want more light than the properly adjusted headlamp housings with the HIDs provide.

You could install HID fog lamps as well.

I will say one thing with all the candle power your car would put out with HID head lamps and fog lamps I would want to be on the same road as you either driving at you or having you behind me.
