I own a 2005 Montana which I've driven for 5 years. However, it wouldn't start on Saturday. When attempting to start it, the battery icon appeared and the engine wouldn't start. I did hear a different clicking sound, directly behind the gas tank that I hadn't heard in the past. I tried to jumpstart it with a portable rechargeable battery jumpstarter on Tuesday, but it only attempted to load the radio/CD changer, then just stopped the process. The most recent battery was purchased on February 5th, 2016; it is an "AutoCraft Gold Battery, Group Size 34, 800 CCA, Part No 34FT-2", installed at Advance Auto by their employee.

Here's a small overview of past annoyances. a.) About every 2 weeks over the past 8 months, the radio wouldn't shut off when the driver's door was opened; opening and closing the door would be a temporary fix to this radio issue. b.) During the prior week, the sliding doors created repetitive dinging sounds -- only while the engine is running; cleaning the contacts on the door corrected those sounds from occurring. c.) The aforementioned sliding doors dinging issue has occurred in the past, as soon as the vehicle's front door is opened and continues throughout the entire driving trip...in contrast to the one in "annoyance b)" which occurs only while the engine is running. d.) The rear window wiper suddenly quit responding to the steering wheel wiper controller switch.

Please advise what could be the reason(s) of this error. Any help is much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

1. Remove the battery and take it back to autozone for a load test.
2. Assuming the battery is good after they recharge it your vehicle should start.
3. Once the vehicle is running have the charging system tested.
4. If there are no issues with the charging system have the system checked for a parasitic battery drain.

Hello, thanks for the reply!

I am not that mechanically inclined to remove the battery, as it's in a precarious place. I couldn't even place the "red" jumper cable onto the battery node, so I tried to place it on the covered Jumpstart inverted screw, which doesn't seem to make a strong clamp on it. Is there an adapter to place on the Jumpstart screw to make it a secure connection? Possibly it was missing from my vehicle, removed by the prior owner?

Other than the battery, do you have any ideas as to what created that clicking noise behind the gas tank/above the rear driver's wheel general area? How about why the radio still plays music, even when the driver's door opens?

Thanks, again!
