sometimes i have to hold the key in the start postion about 10 seconds befor it starts and sometimes it stals out after it finaly starts. after it starts and runs for a min its good any sugestions??

When you say it takes 10 sec to start, are you saying it cranks fine for the 10 sec the fires off and starts or does it do nothing for 10 sec then starts to crank and fires ? If it cranks for 10 sec then fires, you could have many number of problems from fuel to spark. You have to do some trouble shooting here, and to really help you , you need a scanner hooked up to read codes and to see what is going on to lead you in the right direction. How many miles ? When was the last tune up (plugs, wires, filters)?

Same van, same problem (i think)

Hi. New forum member here so please be gentle with me. :)
2005 SV6: Turn key over and cranks fine...but runs for about 2 seconds then cuts out. I either have to hold the key over for about 10 seconds or push the accelerator to the floor for it to keep running. Once it's running, it is fine. no hesitation, roughness, etc.
Any advise/ideas on what that could be?

Welcome to the forum. Wow it could be lot of things . How many miles on the van ? I would start with the easy and inexpensive things first. Fuel filter air filter . If that doesn't help maybe you need a scanner to check codes or to see what's going on when u crank it. Otherwise we are just guessing. Perhaps other members may chime in with opinions. Good luck and keep us posted.

As noted above, do you have a check engine light on? If so you need the codes read, autozone does it at no charge.

Pull the vacuum line off of the fuel pressure regulator. If you see fuel the regulator is bad.

Thanks guys for the quick replies.
No, the check engine light does not come on. Will they be able to scan without it?

I'll try the filters this weekend. We are driving to Florida in the next few weeks and I don't want to get stranded. Like I said, it runs and drives awesome! no hesitation or roughness when that happens. strange...
I'll post back with any new info after the filter changes.

Did you happen to find out what it was? My Montana SV6 does that a lot, since we bought it (used). It helps if I hit the throttle upon starting up. I've seen many other also have this problem.
