2005 Pontiac Sunfire rear defroster doesn't work...?

I bought my Sunfire just over four years ago. For the past two years or so, the rear defroster hasn't worked. I push the button to turn it on, and it lights up like it should be on, but the window never defrosts... Suggestions as to why it's like this? And ideas how to fix the problem will be appreciated as well. Thanks!!!

i would make sure there is power going to the grid on the rear window and also check for breaks in the grid as well. take a flash light and shine it on the grid and see if you can see through and see the breaks.
