2005 Sunfire 2.2 Engine Timing Chain

Hello, my car is a 2005 Sunfire with a 2.2 engine. The other morning I went out to start my car and it would not turn over. We tried boosting it with no luck and then tried charging it for 2 hours, again with no luck. We replaced the battery thinking it was dead but that was not the cause of it either. Dad thinks the timing chain is broken. We are wondering if anyone can give us some idea of how to change it or is there anything we should watch out for when changing it. Also, if anyone knows of something else we should be looking at.

Does the starter engage and try to turn over the engine. If it does not then you have an electrical issue not the timing chain.

Have you tried feeding power directly to the starter to see if it'll turn over?

Have you checked to see if you are getting power to the starter? If you remove the starter an take it to a parts dealer, they can test it for you.
