I'm looking for a little assistance with this problem. My Montana randomly will no recognize when it is in park. This prevents me from starting the engine. There's no turnover, no sounds, absolutely nothing. On top of that, while sitting in park the door locks can start locking/unlocking repeatedly until I shift out of park. (It is supposed to unlock when going into park, and lock when going out of park)
This happens completely randomly, although it only started a couple of months ago. It is sometimes multiple times per day, other times it doesn't happen for a couple of days.
The garage thinks it could be a switch inside the transmission which would require significant time to determine where the fault lies (just a wire, control computer or the switch inside the transmission) and my warranty may not cover this diagnosis.
Has anyone else heard or run into something similar? Luckily for now when it doesn't start we can pop it in neutral and start it but it's getting really annoying.
Thanks,
Pqee
