Hey. I have an 05 sv6, and i have a few problems with it. nothing too major, just annoying things. First, the transmission slips quite often. Second, the suspension is really shot, extremely sloppy. Thirdly, whenever i try to start it either i end up holding the key turned for ten seconds, or it will start then quit. Does anyone else have these problems? Thanks

for the transmission:
change the transmission fluid
change the transmission filter
put a full bottle of lucas slip fluid in then take it for a 10 mile drive to get the lucas flowing and see if it clears up within a day

but u saying it slips quite often sounds like ur transmission has had it and u will need a transmission rebuild.

for the starting:
changed ur battery wires and alternator, if the issue proceeds you will most likely need a new starter.

im unsure about the suspension.

How many miles on the van ? Sounds like you may just need a tune up , plugs,wires,filters,ect...... Good luck keep us posted . Also the tyranny problem like the other reply try filter and fluid change. The suspension problem , you may need 4 new struts .

Thanks for the suggestions guys. About 2 weeks ago i did a fluid change and added the lucas oil slip stop and it does help, but i still get slipping and after a couple months the lucasoil seems to wear out. And theres about 176000 klicks on it. The plugs and wires were just done last year, so maybe ill look into the alternator and battery wires. Ill look into the struts as well. Thanks again for the helpful suggestions, and ill keep you up to date on how it goes!

^^^^ This!

Your car is 7 years old, and if the struts have never been replaced, they're due no matter how many miles are on it.

Haha thanks. And yeah, they should have been redone once, but they probably haven't. The van was my parents before it was mine, and they did usual maintenance, but i dont recall it ever havig the struts redone. Ill look into having them replaced. Thanks for your input, it is greatly appreciated.

well heres pretty much ur only options,

get rid of the sv6 and find somthing else

get ur transmission rebuilt

get a transmission swap

run it until it dies

just because its slipping dont mean its gonna go out anytime soon, i had a 1988 chevy van 20, it started slipping at 170,000 miles and lasted well over 250,000

hey i have the same problem starting my 2005 montana i just wanted to know if changing the batery cables and or alternater fixed your problem..

Same questions apply to your vehicle, how long since a complete tuneup?
