Any and all help would be wonderfully appreciated.. We have a 06 SV6 with has just shy of 200K miles on it. Its been regularly maintained and no real issues. Every once in a while it would shift hard but not regularly. Shift to this week. I was driving home and I lost power.. i could push the gas and it would go what said was 10 mph but wouldn't go further (later found out i was going about 30mph) it would rev way up to 6XXXRpm but wouldnt shift out of 2nd.. Took it to the local Transmission guy who is GREAT but VERY VERY slow.. He said the tranny isnt getting power.. that its stuck in limp mode?!?! Never heard of that but I trust him. Says he has to do more looking.. Its not worth over $2000 in repairs with the miles. Any ideas what it could be and what we would be looking at for repairs?

why didnt you know what the speed was, did the speedometer stop working? The transmission depends on a signal from the speedometer circuit to shift properly. Do you have a check engine light on and if so what is the code?

The speedometer was working before all this happened. I was assuming the speedometer was working it would go up to 10mph until we were pulling it to the shop and my dh said I was going 30 and my gauge read 10mph but it would move not like it was stuck there. We have had an engine light on for about 2 years now bc of the metal plate that is pushed open when you put gas in fell into the gas tank. it would have cost way more money than need be to retrieve the metal plate so we are leaving it in there. Therefore we have never bothered to have the light rechecked to see if there was additional codes popping up.

well you need to know the codes that are there currently and you may have a problem with the VSS sensor, vehicle speed sensor, which controls shifting.
