Hello, my wife and I have had our '06 Torrent AWD for 6+ months and overall love it. We just had to repair the vehicle, and spent a lot of money on these repairs. The main fuel pump, driver's front wheel bearing, and drive shaft center bearing all needed to be replaced. Also, the heat had stopped working, and it was a ground wire. The heat has stopped working again on our drive home tonight (Merry Christmas, and it was 3 degrees!!) My question is, when we replaced the drive shaft center bearing, now the vehicle has a moderate shake/vibration over 45mph. Is this normal? Was thinking that maybe since the rubber was worn and missing, that it was allowing for a smoother ride. Or, should this be addressed? We are hoping the heat will be a ground wire again. Also, just throwing it out there that our heater actuator door in the dash board is not working, and the heat is stuck on HOT, so we have no a/c during the summer. Is there a recall or service bulletin on this? Our vehicle has 137,000 miles. The repair is quoted to be around $1,000.00, most of which is labor. Thanks for your input everyone!

You should not have a vibration have you balanced the wheels? When you say heat has stopped working, do you mean the fan has stopped or you are getting only cold air and the fan is working? Try shoping around for prices on replacing the actuator.

I shouldn't have to balance the wheels as nothing has changed? It is a vibration from under the car, can feel it real good when resting arm on the arm-rest. And, as for the heat, the blower is not working, and appears to have a blown fuse. Come to find out, someone tried bypassing something with the heating system, and ran a wire that is grounded on the fuse... dunno why...

Then take it back to the shop and tell them about the vibration. They may have to recheck their installation, bad bearing, or reverse the orientation of the drive shaft 180 degrees.

Did you take it back to the shop that installed the bearing?

No I did not, I spoke with them and they said it may need to "wear in" but I'm wondering how long that would take if true.

rcote20,

Melsg5 has made a great suggestion. If you do choose to still have your GM dealership look into this, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

To put it nicely that is a falsehood they are telling you. Let them put up on the lift with a guy in the drivers seat and run it up to speed and let them check the bearing.

The only TSB issued for this vehicle is for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. Heat loss is one of the many common issues with this make and model, hence the TSB. since you paid for these expenses out of pocket call 18004628782 and speak with a head rep. They will have GM reimburse you for these repairs. Please cut your loses and do not sink anymore money into this vehicle. Trust me on this.
