2006 pontiac torrent heating up

My torrent has been heating up and i noticed that my fans weren't spinning. It only heats up when the car isn't moving, and when it is, it starts to cool down. Any idea if it is an electrical or mechanical? And what can i do to fix it? Any help would be appreciated.

You have to determine why the fans arent coming on. Do they work with the A/C turned on? Do they work if you apply power directly to them?

No they don't turn with the a/c on, and I haven't tried doing that. the a/c starts heating up after about 1 or 2 minutes of no car motion, and the temp does too.

so you have to apply power directly to the fans to see if they work. if they work then you may have a bad relay
