2006 Torrent Compressor Noise

Hi,

I have a 2006 Torrent that had the compressor replaced last summer (with a new compressor, not reman.). Ever since it was replaced, the compressor whines whenever the blower is on inside the car, the a/c doesn't even have to be on, but it whines in association to the rpms. The more rpms the louder the whine. Turn the blower off inside and the whine stops, any ideas? I thought the compressor would only be on when the a/c is on? Thanks!

The compressor is on when the mode is set for a/c, defrost, or defog. Are you sure it's the compressor and not the fan/blower motor?

I think it has been on defog, but if the heat is on and the set to defog, the compressor is on? Any idea about the whining?

If you have it on defog the compressor is on and you could have a bad bearing.

Can the bearing be replaced?

Did you have this repaired at a GM dealer? If you did I would suggest that you contact that dealer and have them look into this for you.
