I've picked up a Torrent with a few problems for a good price and today while working on it I noticed when I press the accel pedal while sitting in park the engine revs very slowily. I have not yet driven the car so I don't know if it does this when trying to drive it. Given it is throttle by wire I wondered if this is something it is supposed to do? I was told it had a bad heater core and would run hot so it had to be trailered but I've found a leaking sunroof and the cooling system had not been purged of air. I don't know if the guy I bought it from even knew this has to be done, he was a farmer and not a mechanic. The cooling fans are not running so I'm thinking maybe that is what ran it hot and the floor got wet from the sunroof. I filled the coolant today and purgered the air and I plugged in my scanner and watched to go to about 187 degrees and didn't see anything on the floor so I have my fingers crossed. I've not checked the fans yet but expecting they are bad or very high resistance.
On the sunroof repair, of course it had he same issue with the drain line had drawn up enough to unplug it from the rubber coonector. I had an old set of plug wires with long boots and used one of the boots to make the connector. It is about twice as long as the original and fit prefect. If you seen anyone hunting a solution for this mention this to them.
Please let me know about the throttle response if you know.
Thanks,
DC
