2008 AWD Center Drive Shaft

The middle u-joint in the center drive shaft on my 2008 AWD Torrent separated and I am being told that the u-joint is not a servicable part and I have to replace the entire shaft for $650. Any ideas where I might find a repair kit for the center shaft. The shop has been able to find just the u-joint for a 2007 and earlier Torrent but not for my 2008. Does anyone know if the 07 joint will fit in the 08 center shaft?
The shop removed the front section of the center shaft so I can drive it until we can find a repair option.
I checked Rock Auto and OReillys and they don't stock anything. Auto Zone lists the entire center shaft for $650.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

is it a U joint or a constant velocity joint that you are looking for? have you considered a used shaft from a junk yard?
 
My mechanic is on the search for a used one also. It is a standard u-joint. The CV joint is in the front at the transmission housing.
My concern in getting a used one is that I will have the same issue with a bad u-joint sooner with the used one.
 
The reason I replaced the u- joint was the car shook about 40 to 75 just enough to feel a constant vibration. After inspection I had lost or broke:eek: one cap in the middle u joint .
Their are two u- joints that should be replaced . More than likely its the center one along with a carrier bearing that will need to be replaced their is also one at the rear . The front one is a constant velocity join with 6 bolts. I found a shop out of Michigan that has the u- joint for sale on E-bay. The reason these are non serviceable is that their is no inside clips nor is their out side clips . These are held in place with what they call a " staked in Joint " On the out side of the u-joint they used the metal around the joint like a punch and scratched a good amount of metal till it touches the u joint cap . This was done by a machine. Its hard to tell you unless you see it. I think the u- joint was 38.00 shipped by Mail (6.00 postage ) . I also replaced the carrier or center bearing while I had this apart. I up loaded a video on my u-tube channel.:) ( Sears GTV )This took me about 4 Hours to do.
