Greetings all. I am looking for assistance in diagnosing and fixing an issue with my 2008 Grand Prix.
The car is a base model 3.8L V6 (`131K miles) which has run well until recently.
Briefly described, there is a seemingly sporadic, random electrical issue where power cycles throughout the car; as visualized in the dash instrumentation, stereo, clock, and HVAC. There is a momentary (1-5 second) loss of engine power, which occasionally results in a complete vehicle stall. No codes have reported since I started tracking the issue. The failures are sporadic, occurring 1 to 5 times per day for several days then not occurring for a week. This occurs whether warm or cold, at any range of speeds except idle, and in varying weather conditions.
In troubleshooting the problem, I have cleaned the battery connections and replaced the battery without effect. I have taken the car to my local dealership, who have acknowledged the issue but can not get it to repeat with sufficient regularity to diagnose the cause. I initially considered it to be a short in the turn signal indicator stalk but recently have replaced that component without effect.
Thoughts and comments appreciated.
Apologies if this has been addressed elsewhere and I have missed it, there were some similarities with other postings but enough distinctions for the new question.
