On my wifes Torrent at 40+ mph it shudders like it wants to change gears.I do not feel it in the steering wheel so I dont think it is an axle. I am not sure what it is, maybe someone else has had this issue. It is not AWD. Does the Torrent have a lockup converter? Thanks for any help. I do have an appointment for Friday at the dealrship. Just curious

Taralyn,
I would suggest that you contact your local dealership and have them look into this for you. They are in the best position to get your vehicle diagnosed for you. Please keep me posted on this. If you have any further questions, comments or concerns please feel free to contact me.

Same here!

Hi,

I've got an '08 Torrent, FWD, 81,000 km on it. Just started to shudder on the weekend. At first, it was the 80km/h mark. On my way to work tonight though, 60km as well. Getting onto the highway was not good! lol. Bringing it into the dealer as soon as I'm done work. I've got extended warranty so I'm not too concerned, just wish it didn't happen when it did!

Thought I should speak up so we all can see how many people are having issue. Love the vehicle to this point though! Hopefully this is just a small bump in the road!

yep you are right. # 1 was bad on mine. There is a bulletin on the spark plug wires and spark plug. It is not specific to the Torrent it is only for the engine.
The dealer replaced the wires and 1 spark plug runs great now. We had 62k on the car and they did warranty the work.

Was this happening under heavy acceleration ?

My awesome dealer changed out the #1 plug and it was fine. Two weeks later I had to get it in to another dealer when I was on the road and they said it was the #1 plug wire. So after $180.00 (which I did not know was covered under the secret recall) for new plugs and no new wires. 10000 miles later its doing the same thing because of the plug wires being bad. So my wife and I after some soul searching have decided to take our nice already paid off Torrent out to the end of the drive way and put a for sale sign on it. I do not have much flexibility in my profession to be able to miss work because of vehicle dependability issues and it seems like GM really does not care, so we will see if Ford does.
