I am looking at updating/upgrade my 71 Lemans Convertible. Things I have looking at doing are: 4 bbl carb/intake conversion, disk brake upgrade and coil over shock suspension conversion. I have quote from a local guy but I am looking for advice on specifics especially related to carb/intake from other peoples experiences. Also doing electronic ignition conversion.

Thanks for any and all advice.

what do you want to know about the carburetor and intake which one or some other question. On the ignition conversion, I have used the Mallory Unilight conversion on two cars for decades.

I just put in an edelbrock carb and intake on my pontiac 350. Could not be happier. I went with the performer intake and the 650cfm carb. I don't have any other aftermarket parts in the motor though.

I went with a Edelbrock Performer dual plane intake and a Quick Fuel Slayer series 750 carb, vac secondary and electric choke. The intake can be found used in great condition for under $100 and the carb can be found online for $300 new. I am very happy with the difference it made on my 71 Lemans Sport convertible 350/TH350. Mine ran a bit rich, but jetted it down and it is perfect. I had a 600 on it, but that was way too lean.

Thanks all. We are going with Edelbrock intake & Holley 600 carb. Also disc brake setup on front wheels, electronic ignition setup and coil over shock conversion. Should be a huge difference when it's done. Can't wait.

keep us posted on the progress

You can get the complete disc conversion on ebay for $374.
I am about to get one for my 68.
Includes the knuckles, spindles, rotors and bearings, calipers, pads, brake lines and brackets.
That is a great deal.
Does not include the master cylinder and proportioning valve, which you MUST also change.
I have done these conversions before.
Completely changes the front end stability.
A heavy sway bar helps too.

It's all done. New intake, carb, distributor/electronic ignition, disc brake conversion, QA1 coil over shock conversion, valve cover gaskets, transmission flush/gasket. This thing drives and handles beautifully now. Couldn't be happier. This was after doing new rims and tires previously.
