4 Speed Shifter

1962 Catalina 4 speed factory shifter, was this a GM manufactured unit?

Unless it says Hurst it was manufactured by GM or one of it's suppliers.

Is this part of a buying decision of a car or just a shifter?
Hurst makes an excellent shifter.

I just bought a restored 62 Catalina, it's just like the one I had when I was 20 years old. I don't believe Hurst made shifters for GM until 1964. Hurst shifters were better but I want a GM shifter they made for Chevrolet and Pontiac. The shifter in this car is not correct.
